Developing an anthology is an exciting journey: creating the concept, recruiting authors, cover design and formatting, and more! On your way to publication, you’ll need a professional editing each entry, the foreword, the introduction, acknowledgments, author bios, and the blurb for the back of your book.
I am an experienced anthology editor who understands how important it is that each writer has fulfilled your vision. I ensure chapters remain in each author’s unique voice, and I have been known to go above and beyond to help contributors dig deeper for a fuller, more well-rounded story.
Children’s books hold a special place in my heart. I loved settling my kids on my lap and around me at the end of the day to read with them. Now I read with my granddaughters, and I can’t tell you how much I love opening books with characters who look like them or have disabilities, families that go beyond traditional moms and dads, and stories about different cultures, languages, and countries.
Books play an important role in children’s lives. The stories they experience when the adults in their lives first read to them and as they learn to read should have many of the elements of any good tale: clearly defined characters, easily imagined settings, and a clear path from beginning to end plus a conflict with resolution, if applicable.
I conduct a full development edit that includes ensuring your characters speak in age-appropriate language, that your tone and style are consistent, and that your story follows a clear trajectory. I also correct punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and grammatical errors, all in the service of making your story the very best it can be.
